Good News for Tourists to Cambodia and Thailand
Cambodia
and Thailand agreed on Wednesday to implement a single visa agreement,
which will allow tourists to obtain one visa to visit both countries
from Dec 27.
The visa would allow visitors from 35 countries to stay up to 60 days in Thailand and 60 days in Cambodia. The agreement comes under the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (Acmecs) structure.
Acmecs, which was introduced by Thailand and set up in 2003, is a joint development agreement comprising of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
After meeting Thailand's Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Nam Hong expressed confidence in the arrangement.
The Cambodian dignitary felt the new chapter between the two countries will benefit the societies and their growing economy.
